Primary Purpose:

The primary purpose of the Chief Engineer is to ensure guests have an excellent experience through managing the engineering department and supervising maintenance operations while exhibiting leadership and decision-making skills.

Work Performed:

The Chief Engineer will be tasked with the following duties:

  • Lead, develop, and train a diverse and effective team.
  • Manage engineering associates, ensuring understanding of employment practices.
  • Maintain an adequate inventory of parts and supplies.
  • Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Participate in the development of the engineering and capital budget.
  • Create work schedules while managing departmental needs.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance assignments and execution of capital projects.
  • Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and OSHA standards.
  • Track guest room requests for servicing.
  • Manage the hotel loss prevention and risk management programs.
  • Follow all company safety and security policies.
  • Any other work required to complete the primary purpose of the position.

Qualifications:

Required Prior Experience:

  • 5+ years of engineering experience including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
  • Prior supervisory/leadership experience.
  • Experience managing a department budget.
  • Experience with utilities and energy systems.
  • Understanding of capital planning and replacement cycles.
  • Experience with NFPA fire code and life safety systems.
  • Experience with industrial laundry and kitchen equipment.
  • Prior hotel experience.
  • Certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC.
