Primary Purpose:
The primary purpose of the Chief Engineer is to ensure guests have an excellent experience through managing the engineering department and supervising maintenance operations while exhibiting leadership and decision-making skills.
Work Performed:
The Chief Engineer will be tasked with the following duties:
- Lead, develop, and train a diverse and effective team.
- Manage engineering associates, ensuring understanding of employment practices.
- Maintain an adequate inventory of parts and supplies.
- Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in mechanical and electrical systems.
- Participate in the development of the engineering and capital budget.
- Create work schedules while managing departmental needs.
- Oversee preventative maintenance assignments and execution of capital projects.
- Maintain Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and OSHA standards.
- Track guest room requests for servicing.
- Manage the hotel loss prevention and risk management programs.
- Follow all company safety and security policies.
- Any other work required to complete the primary purpose of the position.
Qualifications:
Required Prior Experience:
- 5+ years of engineering experience including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing.
- Prior supervisory/leadership experience.
- Experience managing a department budget.
- Experience with utilities and energy systems.
- Understanding of capital planning and replacement cycles.
- Experience with NFPA fire code and life safety systems.
- Experience with industrial laundry and kitchen equipment.
- Prior hotel experience.
- Certifications in mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC.
