Senior Software Engineer, Front End – Contract

The Commerce team is the backbone of Chegg – supporting every business line and functional organization at the company.

We are seeking a passionate, results-oriented engineer to solve our next generation challenges and define our technical strategy. Responsibilities:

1. Design and develop applications and components using React and TypeScript.
2. Have a strong eye for the operational aspects of the platform such as deployment, performance tuning, and monitoring.
3. Lead and participate in critical, technical, and product discussions with leaders across our engineering, product, and business teams.
4. Key player in delivering scalable, high-visibility commerce initiatives.
5. Ownership of the entirety of your features from design to deployment.
6. Work as an escalation point to troubleshoot any production issues.
7. Keep technical debt low by reinforcing our Engineering culture of code reviews, solid test coverage, and documentation.

Qualifications:

1. 5+ years of industry experience building high quality, highly performant, resilient and secure presentation layers for high traffic sites.
2. Technical leadership in building and maintaining scalable production applications built with JavaScript/Typescript, NodeJS, NextJS, React, and Redux.
3. Strong experience in implementing complex Web UIs that leverage RESTful and/or GraphQL based APIs.
4. Experience debugging across the entire frontend stack.
5. Active interest not only in application code but also maintainable and scalable software architectures.
6. Effective written and verbal communication skills. Must be a team player and work well in a team environment.

Preferred:

1. Experience working in large scale e-commerce retail applications.
2. Flexibility; able to quickly pivot based on business priorities.
3. Experience integrating payment methods for international market consumption.
