The Automation Engineer plays a critical role in designing, implementing, and maintaining automation systems that improve the efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of energy production and water/wastewater treatment processes.
You will work with multidisciplinary teams to develop advanced control systems, optimize operations, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards in the Energy and Water/Wastewater industry.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and Implementation:
- Develop and implement automation solutions for energy production facilities, water treatment plants, and wastewater management systems.
- Design and program PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI for monitoring and controlling various processes in energy and water/wastewater operations.
- Prepare detailed technical documentation, including design specifications, wiring diagrams, and system architecture.
- System Integration:
- Integrate automation systems with existing infrastructure and ensure compatibility with various process equipment and control platforms.
- Collaborate with IT, operations, and maintenance teams to ensure smooth integration and reliable operation of automation systems.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to automation systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring continuous operations.
- Optimization and Maintenance:
- Monitor and analyze automation system performance, identifying opportunities for optimization and efficiency improvements.
- Implement preventive maintenance strategies to ensure the long-term reliability of automation systems.
- Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance personnel on system use and best practices.
- Project Management:
- Lead automation projects from initial concept through to final implementation, including budget management, scheduling, and resource coordination.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including process engineers, environmental specialists, and regulatory compliance teams, to achieve project objectives.
- Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that all automation solutions adhere to regulatory standards, including environmental, health, and safety regulations specific to energy and water/wastewater sectors.
- Participate in safety assessments, risk evaluations, and compliance audits.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related field.
- 8+ years of experience in automation engineering, preferably in the energy or water/wastewater industry.
- Professional Engineering(P.E.) License strongly preferred
- Proficiency in PLC programming, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI development.
- Strong understanding of process control, instrumentation, and industrial networking.
- Experience in managing automation projects, including budget and schedule management.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations, such as NEC, ISA, and EPA guidelines.
