Utilidata is a fast-growing energy technology company using distributed artificial intelligence (AI) to accelerate the clean energy transition and better serve utility customers. As the electric grid becomes more complex with the rapid increase of electric vehicles, distributed solar, batteries, heat pumps and extreme weather, utilities need real-time visibility of grid conditions. Utilidata’s distributed AI platform, powered by our custom NVIDIA chip, is transforming the way utility companies operate with real-time visibility at the grid edge to better utilize customer energy resources, reduce power outages, and enable quicker storm recovery. 
As an Electronics Technician, you’ll play a crucial role in making sure everything, from individual electronic components to the complete product, works exactly as it should. Your attention to detail will be essential as you provision and integrate parts, ensuring they're assembled with precision. Then, you'll bring it all together by testing finished products before they head out the door, contributing to the high-quality experiences our customers trust us to deliver. We are looking for candidates who are collaborative, adaptive and mission-driven.This is a hybrid position based in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Candidates will be expected to report in-person for a portion of the work week and collaborate cross-functionally with remote teams based across the country. 
Responsibilities

  • Inspect electrical systems and circuits for efficiency and safety
  • Repair or replace any faulty components to ensure optimal performance
  • Keep detailed documentation of all maintenance actions and any modifications made to circuits
  • Conduct regular testing of electrical equipment and systems to pinpoint defects or performance issues
  • Calibrate testing instruments for precise measurements and perform functional testing of components and assemblies
  • Troubleshoot any malfunctions and apply strict quality control protocols throughout the testing process

Minimum Qualifications 

  • 2+ years of prior experience in a technical laboratory assembling electronic components
  • Bachelor's degree in electronics or similar field OR equivalent training and on the job experience 
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology including applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services
  • Knowledge of circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment, and computer hardware and software, including applications and programming
  • Familiarity with hardware and computer tools such as soldering irons, oscilloscopes, power supplies, Google Workspace
  • Detail oriented, highly organized, and able to document work
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Enhanced Qualifications (Nice to Have) 

  • Experience with highly complex electrical systems
  • Experience with fast-paced and dynamic construction, manufacturing, or assembly/integration builds
  • Deep understanding of analog, digital, and mixed-signal circuit design
  • Proficient with signal integrity and medium/high-speed time and frequency domain testing using oscilloscopes and signal analyzers

Salary Range: $65,000 to $85,000 depending on experience 
Location: This is a hybrid position that will spend approximately four days per week working out of Utilidata’s Innovation Lab in Ann Arbor, MI.
