Linux Engineer

Scope/Daily Job Responsibilities/Position Overview:
- Manage organization’s RHEL servers (daily monitoring, periodic patching, deployment based on new projects).
- Review and respond to requests by departments in changes that need to be made with their RHEL servers (eg. DAT, ACAS, CND)
- Upgrade and maintain Red Hat Satellite servers
- Scan servers using SCAP compliance checker
- Work with application owners to remediate STIG findings
- Update and maintain RHEL8 golden image
- Write and maintain Ansible playbooks for configuration management
Minimum Required Skills :
- Ability to deploy servers in a virtual environment – Vmware (Template servers)
- Deployed servers must meet DOD STIG guidelines
- Assist with the deployment of applications to RHEL
- Maintain the servers at a secure level (based on weekly scans) – Familiarity with ACAS/Nessus
- Patch servers when vulnerabilities are detected and with security patches when released
- Document configurations and create SOPs.
Desired/Preferred Skills:
- Managing RHEL servers with Red Hat Satellite
- RHCSA certified (not required but preferred)
- Automating common tasks using Ansible
- Remediating STIG findings on RHEL servers
Certification Requirements:
1. Be certified as Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level II per DoD 8570.01-M guidance for Baseline certifications. (e.g. Security+ ce)
2. Obtain a contract related computing environment system certification(s) in accordance with DoD 8570.01-M guidance. (Computing Environment for Applications Development) RHCSA RHEL 7
