ROLE: SYSTEMS ENGINEER

_*** Initially this is onsite during the ramp up period of 3-4 weeks, and will transition to a hybrid model (Tue-Thur in office, Mon & Fridays remote) _
This is a contract to hire an opportunity for an Infrastructure/Systems Engineer in Midtown Manhattan for one of our top tier investment banking clients. This role will be reporting to the Director of Infrastructure and join a team of 8 Systems Engineers (L1-L3). We are looking for some with well-rounded skills as a Systems Engineer to grow with the organization. This role will require on-call coverage on a 6–8-week cycle.
This role will be part of an IT Engineering team reporting to the Director of Infrastructure Engineering.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as an escalation point for matters concerning server infrastructure (L2)
- Support Infrastructure and Virtualization environment including servers, storage and cloud services.
- Coordinate infrastructure-related work with team members and outside Engineering, telephony, provisioning or any other group that are involved in IT infrastructure.
- Collaborate with infrastructure team members implement technology infrastructure solutions, including networks, servers, storage, and cloud services, to meet business requirements and support the firm's operations globally.
- Configure and deploy infrastructure components following best practices and industry standards, ensuring scalability, reliability, and security.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to end-users across multiple regions, addressing infrastructure-related issues and incidents promptly to minimize downtime and disruptions.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network problems, escalating complex issues to senior engineers to ensure timely resolution.
- Attend meetings and gather requirements relating to new projects such as onsite infrastructure deployment, relocations, cloud provisioning etc.
Qualifications:
- Ideally 5+ years of relevant experience preferably supporting technology infrastructure solutions in a global enterprise environment. Financial services experience is preferred.
- Hands-on MS O365 support experience.
- Experience in Active Directory Administration.
- Proficiency in server and storage technologies, virtualization platforms (e.g.: Hyper-V), Cloud computing services: Azure preferred.
- Scripting experience, PowerShell preferred.
- Working knowledge of Exchange Online.
- Knowledge of networking concepts, protocols, and technologies, including LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, and load balancers. NetApp storage.
- Must have polish, excellent communication skills, and comfortable being client-facing. White glove support
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience
