We are seeking a talented 3D Game Designer / 3D Artist who specializes in creating high-quality mesh assets for leading platforms like Unreal, Unity, and/or Second Life.
Job Description:
As a 3D Game Designer / 3D Artist, you will be responsible for designing and creating detailed and optimized 3D mesh assets using Blender and Maya. You will work closely with our development team to ensure that all assets meet the technical and artistic requirements of our projects. Your primary focus will be on creating assets for Second Life and Unreal Engine, ensuring they are optimized for performance and visual appeal.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and create high-quality 3D mesh assets using Blender and/or Maya.
- Develop and optimize assets for use in Unreal Engine and Second Life.
- Collaborate with the development team to ensure assets meet technical and artistic requirements.
- Create custom building walls, boulders, and similar assets for virtual environments.
- Ensure all assets are optimized for performance without compromising visual quality.
- Develop full perm and customizable textures for mesh components.
- Maintain a consistent art style and quality across all assets.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and techniques in 3D modeling and game design.
- Implement feedback from QA testers and other team members to refine and enhance assets.
- Manage and organize asset libraries for efficient retrieval and use in projects.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a 3D Game Designer or similar role.
- Extensive experience with Blender and similar tools.
- Strong portfolio showcasing your work.
- Proficiency in creating detailed and optimized 3D mesh assets.
- Experience with texturing and material creation.
- Knowledge of game design principles and asset optimization techniques.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
- Familiarity with PBR (Physically Based Rendering) workflows.
- Basic understanding of rigging and animation principles.
- Experience with procedural generation tools like Substance Designer/Painter.
- Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Python, MEL) to automate tasks and enhance productivity.
- Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git, Perforce).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with other 3D modeling software and tools.
- Familiarity with other game engines and virtual worlds.
- Understanding of VR and AR design principles.
- Experience in creating LOD (Level of Detail) models.
- Knowledge of performance profiling and optimization techniques for real-time applications.
- Experience in character modeling and animation.
