This position’s responsibilities are varied and require the ability to adapt to working in different capacities and departments within the company.
Minimum Qualifications : B.S. in Geological discipline.
Preferred Qualifications : Hazardous Waste Operations & Emergency Response Training in addition to experience in the tasks mentioned below:
Geologist/Field Technician Responsibilities :
- Perform geological studies and write reports on project sites
- Learn and perform building, neighborhood, and ground surveys including scope-and-transit surveys and zip-level surveys
- Learn, perform, and monitor field testing including: borehole logging: interpret and characterize rock and soil cores and samples, keep a detailed log, and create professional, final logs; Field observations
- Ability to manage/coordinate job site including drilling contractors
- Willing to be in the field for extended periods of time
- Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
Lab Technician Responsibilities :
- Ability to learn and execute lab testing in compliance with ASTM standards on soil and rock samples including but not limited to classification, moisture, density, swelling, compaction, compressive strength tests, and Atterberg Limits
- Work directly with engineers
- Spreadsheet calculations
- Detail-oriented and able to perform repetitive in-depth procedures
Engineering Technician Responsibilities :
- Ability to learn and work with CAD programs and various types of image files
- Familiar with maps and mapping systems
- Capable of doing research and summarizing data from the internet and from phone interviews
- Usage of geographic information system software (e.g. ArcGIS, Global Mapper)
- Spreadsheet calculations
- Daily strain gauge monitoring (including holidays – paid)
- Must be a self-starter and have a proven record of innovative ideas and outstanding work performance.
Other :
- General lab maintenance responsibilities
- Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office products
- Other duties as requested by management
