By mitigating risk, we get buildings working reliably. We manage and validate the commissioning of building engineering services from the earliest design stages through to the completion of complex integrated test procedures.

The primary objectives of our Commissioning Engineer / Agent are to see that the processes involved in the commissioning of engineering services systems have been safely, diligently, and accurately planned, managed, tested and documented. This includes:

  1. Acting as a key point of client contact
  2. Making full use of the company's management systems in achieving the primary objective
  3. Proactively progress commissioning activities throughout the project cycle in conjunction with the General Contractor and vendors
  4. By diligent management of the commissioning process seeing that systems are set to work optimally and verified as such, in accordance with the design requirements
  5. Providing consultative advice in determining commissioning and performance requirements, commissioning strategies, programs, scopes of work, test scripts, etc.
  6. Delivery of the project in full accordance with our appointment to include technical and commercial compliance
  7. Commercially manage project change
  8. Accountability for the quality of service, delivery, and management of client expectations
  9. Full compliance with project-related safety insofar as it relates to our work
  10. Providing positive and effective management and setting an appropriate example to other members of the team
  11. Provide feedback for staff appraisals
  12. To assist in continuing to develop the Company's management systems and processes

The role involves working closely with many different members of a construction project team. It requires the ability to think and communicate clearly, remain focused, and lead construction delivery staff whilst remaining motivated during fast-moving periods of complex site activity.

Required Qualifications

  1. 4 years of industry experience dealing with mechanical, electrical and controls disciplines.
  2. Proven ability to lead commissioning efforts from design through project completion.
  3. Should have a passion for sustainability and knowledge of the commissioning process and experience with design, installation and operation of building systems (including but not limited to: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, and controls)
  4. Willing to travel as needed; duration and frequency of travel will depend on HDR needs.
  5. Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot HVAC, TAB, and Controls and have excellent report writing skills.
  6. Solid understanding of operational requirements, safety requirements, code inspections and maintenance considerations.
  7. Strong written, verbal communication and time management skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; ability to interact with people at all levels
  8. Technical knowledge of MEP systems and HVAC expertise
  9. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  10. Multitasking ability
  11. An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  1. A commissioning professional as certified by an accredited agency
  2. Professional Engineer preferred
  3. Federal Government commissioning experience
  4. Commissioning certification preferred (CxA, CCP, BCxP, or CBCP)
  5. Have one or more specific, relevant, technical expertise
  6. Proficiency in HVAC load calculation software such as Trace or IES
  7. Preference given to local candidates
