Job Description
GTRI's Cooperative Education ("co-op") program offers you extensive opportunities to participate in diverse scientific and technological endeavors, use state-of-the-art equipment, and rapidly improve your technical and leadership skills. The program allows you to alternate three semesters of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school.
GTRI's Cybersecurity, Information Protection, and Hardware Evaluation Research (CIPHER) Lab seeks interns to start Spring 2025. You will work with the Secure Information Systems Division on developing and maintaining web application software for various projects using HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, and OracleSQL. The primary job function will be a combination of User Interface Design/Implementation and Web Server maintenance with Java, communicating with our OracleSQL database backend. You will have the opportunity to interface with other students and professionals while developing secure web applications for the division's cutting-edge research projects.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 3.0 or higher cumulative GPA
- Must be eligible to be approved by your college/university to participate in a co-op program and register for co-op credit with your university during work terms
- Must be able to complete at least three full-time co-op terms (alternating three terms of full-time work at GTRI with semesters of full-time school) prior to graduation
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Java, and OracleSQL
- Strong interpersonal and team skills
- Familiarity with Linux and open source tools
- Configuration management tools
- Ability to clearly communicate technical ideas to technical and non-technical team members
- Ability to quickly learn new software applications and tools
- Candidates that are willing to commit to multiple terms will be preferred

U.S. Citizenship Requirements
Due to our research contracts with the US federal government, candidates for this position are required to be US Citizens.
Clearance Type Required
Candidates must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
