The Electrical Project Engineer will be primarily responsible for the implementation and installation of capital equipment and facilities to include ownership of all phases of a project from initiation and planning through installation, commissioning, and closeout. This position will provide engineering expertise to assist plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel in identifying and solving technical process issues. Technical assistance will require understanding of plant power distribution systems and process/machinery control systems. A practical level of understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles are to be applied to assigned project work.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the implementation and installation of capital equipment and facilities, overseeing all project phases from initiation to closeout.
- Provide engineering expertise to various departments, troubleshooting technical process issues, and ensuring compliance with safety standards.
Key Duties:
- Manage capital projects, including scope development, budget tracking, and project execution.
- Coordinate day-to-day activities of contractors and plant maintenance personnel during project execution.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues with existing process equipment and control systems.
- Provide training and technical assistance to plant-level Maintenance, Production/Operations, EH&S, and management personnel.
- Design machine control systems to maximize equipment productivity and assure all code requirements and safety standards are strictly met.
- Travel to Carlisle Construction Materials facilities outside of home base office, in support of project planning, equipment installation, startup, and training.
Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Proficiency in Rockwell Automation software and Allen-Bradley hardware.
- Understanding of general industrial controls, manufacturing processes, and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols, electrical wiring principles, and AutoCAD Electrical.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of five years of industrial/manufacturing experience in a controls engineering capacity.
Working Conditions:
- 80% office-based work, including project development, monthly reports, and team meetings/calls.
- 20% travel for project support, equipment installation, commissioning, startups, and vendor visits.
- Flexible hours may be required based on project needs.
