OceanComm is the leader in wireless communication undersea, serving customers in defense, offshore energy and oceanographic research. Underwater, the wireless transfer of a single picture used to take an hour. We brought to market acoustic-wave based wireless modems that can accomplish this 100 to 1000 times faster. Our wireless modems network seamlessly and have the unique ability to livestream video from the underwater world.


We are seeking an embedded software engineer, passionate about digital signal processing and eager to join a tight-knit team on a mission to push the envelope on Earth’s final frontier. You will be working with industry-leading experts to help develop and test acoustic-wave based modems, undersea drones, and other cutting-edge maritime systems. An ideal candidate should be comfortable collaborating with electrical and mechanical engineers and non-technical users.


WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Develop and maintain mission-critical code, including core components of our modem’s firmware
  • Implement advanced algorithms and architectures for acoustic signal processing, optimize for efficiency, and ensure correctness
  • Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineers to define and coordinate system interfaces
  • Develop and carry out hardware and firmware tests, define test procedures for series production, troubleshoot and repair system issues 
  • Open to feedback from others from all levels of the organization
  • Take responsibility for bringing tasks to completion and meeting schedules
  • Keep up to date with emerging technologies and research in relevant fields to help inform engineering and design decisions
  • Actively work to improve the culture and communication within the entire engineering organization


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • B.S. or M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related discipline 
  • Expertise in programming languages including C/C++ and assembly
  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in signal processing theory, algorithms, and implementation techniques (filters, transforms, etc.)
  • Experience drafting technical documentation
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • U.S. Person


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency in developing DSP software for real-time systems
  • Exposure to machine learning algorithms, ability to debug and optimize models for integration in embedded platforms
  • Experience with analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits, e.g., low-noise amplifiers, analog-to-digital converters, and integrated analog-front-ends
  • Familiarity with sonar and/or undersea technology

The estimated salary range for this position is $100,000 - $150,000 per year. The salary offered will be based on a candidate’s experience and skill demonstrated during interviews and other evaluations.
