ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY:
The Technical Support Engineer acts as a technical support advisor to Compass Lexecon professional staff on all information technology issues and provides technical solutions in support of computer and local area networks. Assumes an ownership role in providing applications and systems support, voice systems (Cisco IPT) application and Active Directory administration. Provides junior level support, detailed knowledge of computer software and hardware, basic level network operating systems, advanced PC applications, Active Directory administration, Internet services, videoconferencing support and strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications. It is expected that this incumbent will work as a part of the global Compass Lexecon team in a customer support role for all technology related issues at the local office level. The ability to work independently while being part of a remote global team is required.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Works as a technology support advocate for Compass Lexecon staff with a primary focus on support for the Chicago office location.
- Must be able to configure, install and troubleshoot all standard software applications on laptop computers.
- Configures and supports all standard business apps on Compass Lexecon mobile devices.
- Maintains thorough understanding of video equipment installed in the office and can provide audio and video calling assistance for staff.
- Provide leadership in maintaining in-depth experience with application software installation and use.
- Remains knowledgeable of and experienced with using operating systems on workstations and servers.
- Familiar with local and wide area network concepts, LAN/WAN connectivity, and data communications protocols.
- Remains competent and has a thorough understanding of PC hardware components and supported software, including messaging clients, web browsers and Internet, anti-virus software, office productivity applications, and time entry systems.
- Provide training for new hires on relevant IT systems and services.
- Familiar with best practices for recording, updating, and resolving service requests and incidents; preferably experience with Service Now.
- Familiar with Android and iOS devices.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
- As developed and coordinated upon request.
- Ability to work additional hours as required.
- Periodic physical labor, which may include moving equipment or furniture up to 50 lbs and flexibility to crawl underneath desks or tables to access network jacks and electric receptacles.
Qualifications
- In-office work is expected 5 days a week; however, some flexibility for hybrid work is optional.
- Rotational weekend work required.
- At least 2-year Computer Science degree or equivalent experience.
- Experience with Active Directory and Windows 10/11 operating systems.
- Strong proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook, and SharePoint) and Microsoft Cloud Services.
- Strong remote support experience.

- Ability to grasp fundamentals quickly and instruct others in their use. Competent to work on complex computer problems independently.
- Experience with leading mobile providers (Apple, Google, Android).
- Ability to reliably meet tight deadlines.
- Positive attitude and self-motivated.
- Team player and adaptable to changing priorities.
