Job Description

The NNL Core Materials, Manufacturing, and Irradiations Department is looking for an experienced engineer to join the team responsible for designing the irradiations experiments and examinations equipment capabilities of the future. The Future Irradiations Examinations (FIX) unit is seeking an experienced engineer to be involved in setting the direction of the Naval Nuclear Laboratory (NNL) future irradiation examinations needs by working with the FIX lead engineer, materials test sponsors and equipment designers. The successful candidate will work with the team to develop the well documented technical basis for these designs, contribute to setting technical vision for the future of the examinations enterprise, and support cost-benefit assessments. The successful candidate will collaborate on a diverse, cross-functional, multi-organization team and will interface with their coworkers from on-site as well as remotely via modern collaboration tools.


Required Combination of Knowledge and Skill

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 2 years of relevant experience; orMaster's degree from an accredited college or university in engineering or science related field and 1 year of relevant experience; or Currently or previously EOOW qualified in the Nuclear Operations Program; orSRE qualified.
Preferred Skills

Degree in nuclear, chemical, mechanical, or materials engineering or materials science.

Pay Range

$76,400.00 - $117,000.00 annually
Salary information provided is a general guide line only. Annual salary is based upon candidate experience and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations

The Naval Nuclear Laboratory is operated for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) by Fluor Marine Propulsion, LLC (FMP), a wholly owned subsidiary of Fluor Corporation.
