Additive Manufacturing Engineer II - Hybrid (CNC/DED)

ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING ENGINEER II - HYBRID (CNC/DED)
Based at Rocket Lab's headquarters in Long Beach, California, the Additive Manufacturing Engineer II is responsible for supporting the development of various Additive technologies (DED, Hybrid Solutions focused with exposure to L-PBF) with various alloys. This role will support all Additive processes involved with the Rutherford & Archimedes engines.
WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:
Process Development:
- Develop printing parameters for various metallic alloys using a variety of printing methods (Mainly DED focused, with exposure to L-PBF).
- Create new and improve existing print programs.
- Provide engineering support for the day-to-day Additive Manufacturing operations.
- Work closely with downstream support functions to ensure print geometries can be effectively post-processed.
Design for Additive Manufacturing:
- Provide critical feedback during the DfAM process.
- Work closely with Design & Manufacturing Engineers to design for specific types of Additive Manufacturing.
YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or equivalent.
- 5+ years of professional experience with metal Additive Manufacturing on DED systems.
- Firm understanding of DfAM fundamentals.
- Experience modeling in Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
- 5-Axis CAM Experience.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus.
- Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Must be physically able to commute to buildings.
- Occasional exposure to dust, fumes and moderate levels of noise.
- Availability to work long hours and weekends as needed based on test and launch schedules.
Base Pay Range (CA Only): $95,000 — $115,000 USD
