Job Overview

This announcement will be accepting applications from September 5, to October 4, 2024.

Serves within the Agile Space Operations Software Branch (RVSX) Branch (also known as Space Commercially Augmented Mission Platform (CAMP). Champions the ongoing security and compliance of our DevSecOps platform to maintain its Authority to Operate (ATO) certification. Collaborates closely with development and operational teams to streamline the delivery of certified applications to field users, ensuring uninterrupted mission support. It drives the creation and refinement of policies and procedures that empower rapid, continuous software releases and foster a robust, agile development environment within the U.S. Space Force.

You will be a key player in safeguarding our software development lifecycle and deployed applications. You will design and implement robust security measures throughout the DevSecOps pipeline, ensuring the integrity of code repositories, container registries, and deployment environments. This includes establishing stringent access controls, conducting comprehensive vulnerability scanning of code and container images, and ensuring rigorous adherence to DoD and industry security standards. Your vigilance will be crucial in monitoring the pipeline for anomalies and potential breaches, as well as developing and maintaining effective incident response procedures. You will proactively conduct regular security audits and penetration tests to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities. Additionally, you will play a vital role in fostering a security-conscious culture by educating development and operations teams on security best practices and the importance of integrating security seamlessly into our DevOps processes.

You will cultivate a proactive security culture through diverse software development teams, customer groups, and operational users. You will champion security principles and foster collaboration among stakeholders through effective communication and influence. Your leadership will be instrumental in engaging with senior officials and decision-makers within the United States Space Command (USSPACECOM), United States Space Force (USSF), and associated organizations. You will guide discussions and collaborate on the design and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy that supports the branch's agile software development initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • US Citizenship
  • Must have demonstrated experience in Agile Software Development and DevSecOps or DevOps
  • CompTIA Security+ Certification
  • Demonstrate understanding of industry and DoD cyber security best practices, policies, and regulations.
  • Three years of technical experience in implementing and enforcing cyber security or information security policies.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance
  • This position is an Acquisition Professional Development Program (APDP) position requiring foundational Engineering and Technology. The selectee will have 24 months to meet APDP requirements or a waiver must be obtained.
  • Applicants for this position must list any acquisition certifications and status as an acquisition corps member in their resume.

Desired Qualifications

  • A Computer Science, Computer Engineering degree, or Cybersecurity Degree, undergraduate or graduate, from an accredited academic institution
  • (ISC)^2 Certified Information Systems Security Professional Certification
  • ISACA Certified Information Security Manager
  • Certified Kubernetes Administrator
  • Certified Ethical Hacker
  • Certified Information Systems Auditor
  • SANS GIAC certifications such as GSEC, GPEN, GCIH
  • Cloud provider certifications such as AWS Certified Security
  • Docker Certified Associate Certification
  • Experience with the DoD PPBE cycle for funding, as well as experience in working with contracting officers to write requests for proposals, and accomplish proposal reviews
  • Detailed technical experience in working with DoD DevSecOps platform

This is a Flexible-Length, Renewable Term Appointment. Flexible length, renewable term appointments are time-limited appointments of more than one year, not to exceed six years in duration and may be extended without limit in up to six year increments without further competition. A flexible-length term appointment may be non-competitively converted to a career appointment.
