Principal Electrical Engineer

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

Manage electrical engineering services and applicable statutory and regulatory specifications, on time and within budget.

Manage electrical engineering project requirements.

Manage electrical engineering services such as:

1. Participate in relevant meetings, prepare progress reports and comply with required checking procedures.
2. Ensure the project scope is clear and that changes comply with project change management processes.
3. Provide advice during procurement, construction and commissioning activities. For example, oversee requisitions, technical bid evaluations and purchase order preparation.
4. Act as the electrical engineering Lead on specific projects.
5. If responsible for a team:
   1. Outline project requirements including actively promoting workshare, where appropriate.
   2. Assign tasks and supervise progress.
   3. Ensure the required services, its customers and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements, on time and within budget.
6. Keep up to date with the latest developments and technical innovations in electrical engineering.
7. Identify issues and problems, develop appropriate solutions, and ask for assistance when required.
8. If required, assist and support junior personnel within the electrical engineering team.
9. Communicate effectively with the electrical engineering team and project stakeholders, including the Customer.

Skills Qualification:

Minimum of 18 years experience in Brown Field Oil and Gas related Onshore and Engineering projects.

Extensive FEED & detail design experience in the electrical discipline. Min 9 to 10 years of onshore experience.

Specialization in the following:

1. Detailed drawings for lighting;
2. Small power and earthing systems;
3. HV/LV single line diagrams;
4. Wiring and control schematic diagram;
5. AC/DC distribution panels.

Full knowledge of AutoCAD tools and should be conversant with design software packages such as ETAP.
