Northrop Grumman Corporation, Navigation and Cockpit Systems, located in Woodland Hills, CA, is looking for a highly motivated Reliability Engineering expert to join our Specialty Engineering team. This position requires an individual with Reliability Engineering expertise in the engineering development phase in accordance with MIL-HDBK-217. Expertise in the principles of reliability including the capability to perform: Reliability Predictions (MTBF), Built In Test (BIT) Analysis, piece-part (component level) Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) with Testability, ownership of BIT DVT execution, Mission Success probability predictions, and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) is required. A positive attitude, excellent design and communication skills, demonstrated leadership, entrepreneurial mindset, mentorship abilities and the ability to work well in a team environment are also required.

The Reliability Engineer we are seeking will be an individual who thrives in a diverse work environment, has outstanding communication skills and possesses a strong sense of engagement and continuous process improvement. Expert level knowledge of Reliability Engineering of electronic equipment is required.

What You'll Get to Do:

Primary tasks will include supporting development and qualification of Navigation and Cockpit systems by developing Reliability predictions, FMECAs, and executing BIT DVT test plans and reports. Will be responsible to consult with functional and program management to find solutions to difficult problems. Will use historical actuals to develop bids and proposals for future work.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and 14 years of experience, or Master's Degree with 12 years of experience, or Ph.D and 9 years of experience
  • Expert in generating Reliability predictions for electronic equipment
  • Expert in piece-part FMECA execution including Testability
  • Expert in BIT DVT execution and leadership
  • Strong background in Systems or Electrical Engineering
  • Strong program leadership and customer interaction experience
  • Proven teacher and mentor with a track record of developing future reliability experts
  • Excellent analysis of engineering drawings and ability to read schematics and parts lists
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office applications (example, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge and/or experience in adjacent specialty engineering functions such as system safety, logistics, airworthiness, or cyber security
  • Capable of understanding incident investigations and root cause and corrective actions
  • Develop reliability predictions using Relex, PTC Windchill and/or approved prediction methodologies for mechanical, electrical and optical designs
  • Current DoD Secret Clearance

Salary Range: $165,000 - $247,600

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
