Northrop Grumman's Manufacturing Operations Engineering organization is seeking an Associate Manufacturing Process Engineer (T1) or a Manufacturing Process Engineer (T2) to support the Underfill Operations area for the Surface-Mount Technology (SMT) Manufacturing cell.

This position is located in Linthicum, Maryland.

The Manufacturing Process Engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the tasks outlined below:

Process Development

  1. Developing new and maintaining or improving existing manufacturing processes with a focus on affordability
  2. Developing methods for process monitoring using existing and new interfaces
  3. Working in cross functional teams to develop new data, software, and database applications to support current and future manufacturing needs
  4. Providing ROI justification for process improvements
  5. Specifying, identifying and procuring new manufacturing equipment for production readiness and preparing equipment for production with a focus on the machine integration and data collection
  6. Developing and optimizing process parameters
  7. Developing/revising process documentation and work instructions

Factory Support

  1. Assisting the floor personnel in optimization of process monitoring for process yields, cost, and process stability and capability
  2. Working with the floor personnel to resolve technical issues, specializing in IT and human/machine interface
  3. Recommending and implementing quality improvements based on the above metrics
  4. Creating, validating and maintaining automatic equipment programs
  5. Assisting with the training of new personnel and participating in the design of operator training materials
  6. Supporting factory maintenance personnel with the troubleshooting and repair of process equipment
  7. Interfacing with equipment vendors to troubleshoot and resolve issues

Design Support

  1. Recommending product design improvements required to produce advanced microelectronics products
  2. Documenting state-of-the-art process capabilities and guidelines for product designers
  3. Participating in design producibility reviews for new products

This req may be filled as an Associate Manufacturing Engineer or a Manufacturing Engineer, based on the qualifications below.

Basic Qualifications for an Associate Manufacturing Process Engineer:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area
  2. At least 3 months of relevant post Bachelor's professional experience (or 0 years with an MS)
  3. Hands on manufacturing experience (school experience may apply)
  4. Fluency in MS Office software applications

Basic Qualifications for Manufacturing Process Engineer:

  1. Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Engineering or related STEM area
  2. 2 years of relevant professional experience (or 0 years with an MS)
  3. Hands on manufacturing experience (school experience may apply)
  4. Fluency in MS Office software applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Experience with Lean Six Sigma
  2. Knowledge of microelectronics technology and materials
  3. Experience with underfill materials and processes
  4. Experience with automated equipment and robotics in a high volume manufacturing environment
  5. Familiarity with J-STD and MIL-STD requirements and Space Class hardware requirements

Salary Range: $62,600 - $93,800

Salary Range 2: $75,700 - $113,500

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
