Network Security/Automation Engineer

Optomi, in partnership with our financial services client, are seeking an experienced F5 Engineer to join this growing organization! This role is hybrid in Atlanta - must have strong F5 and Python experience.

Job Responsibilities

• Design, implement, support, and maintain a network infrastructure that includes various vendors.
• Develop, document, and publish architectural standards and design guidelines.
• Assist staff with troubleshooting and escalation processes.
• Understand and adhere to operational policies and procedures, promoting compliance among team members.
• Provide technical expertise to ensure safe, effective, and efficient modifications to the network infrastructure.
• Help develop policies and procedures for network infrastructure maintenance.
• Collaborate closely with all IT teams.
• Lead investigations into incidents, diagnose issues, and restore services, prioritizing incident resolution.
• Act as a subject matter expert, offering guidance to fellow engineers in troubleshooting, design, onboarding, risk mitigation, and operational improvements.

Knowledge and Experience

• Comprehensive understanding of general network principles and technologies, particularly in mission-critical, service-oriented environments.
• Proven ability to lead technical projects from design to implementation and rollout.
• Experience in configuring and troubleshooting Web Application Firewalls (WAF), including the deployment of new rules and management of existing policies.
• Familiarity with Content Delivery Networks (CDN), including migrating new applications and troubleshooting issues with existing ones.
• Proficient in x509 SSL and code signing certificates.
• Experience with configuring network load balancers, including virtual servers, pools, and rules.
• Strong programming skills in Python.
• Experience utilizing RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in GIT for software collaboration and version control.
• Ability to run and analyze network traces, with a solid understanding of TCP/IP protocols.
• Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux system administration.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Excellent customer service mindset.
• Ability to work effectively and professionally under pressure.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with Cloudflare or Akamai CDNs.
• Advanced certifications in F5, Checkpoint, or Palo Alto.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or a related field.
