We are looking for a Controls Engineer to help us by providing design and support for instrumentation, PLC controls, and a variable frequency that drives all production lines. As a Trex Controls Engineer, you will be looked to as an innovator in the manufacturing process and expected to maximize the productivity and efficiency of our facilities. This role is a key member of our Process Engineering team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Put safety first - Always!
  • Lead and foster our "people first" culture
  • Participate in site safety programs designed to ensure safe working conditions and eliminate any workplace accidents. Be familiar with and provide oversight on NFPA70E. Be a visible participant in the site safety program.
  • Develops and executes changes to PLC controls where necessary working with process engineers and maintenance technicians.
  • Maintains the documentation (both electronic and hard copies) for the electrical panels and PLC controls for each process. This would include drawings, diagrams, manuals, installation disks/CD's, and any other pertinent information. Updates any documentation where necessary. Follows a controlled PLC change system that will track changes.
  • Supports capital engineering projects for new equipment, including panel design, coordination with vendors for construction, PLC and HMI programming, and new equipment startup.
  • Involved with PLC, drive, instrumentation, and electrical installations. Available to assist maintenance with troubleshooting of control
  • Develops and reviews procedures and provides training for others to handle routine PLC control or electrical issues during normal off-hours. Provides off-shift troubleshooting if necessary.
  • Conducts and maintains the necessary contacts for ensuring that PLC controls and equipment are current and that the necessary spare parts are available.

EXPERIENCE

We are looking for leaders with a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field along with experience in controls design and programming (years of experience requirements are listed below). We want to hear from you if you have previous experience as a systems engineer or electrical engineer.

  • Controls Engineer I: 0-1 years of controls design and programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Candidates with an associate degree along with 3 years of controls design and programming experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered.


  • Controls Engineer II: 2-4 years of controls design and programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Candidates with an associate degree along with 5 years of controls design and programming experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered.


  • Controls Engineer III: 5-7 years of controls design and programming experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Candidates with an associate degree along with 7 years of controls design and programming experience in a manufacturing environment will be considered.

SALARY

  • Controls Engineer I: Base Salary Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually.
  • Controls Engineer II: Base Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000 annually.
  • Controls Engineer III: Base Salary Range: $100,000 - $140,000 annually.

The salary range provided serves as a general guideline for potential compensation for this position. It reflects the base salary and does not account for other benefits or additional compensation opportunities that may apply. This role is also eligible for further compensation through an annual/sales bonus, in addition to the base salary.
