The Engineer I position will report to the Division Director or Assistant Division Director and will perform design engineering and production efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. An individual should possess basic familiarity of roadway transportation infrastructure including horizontal and vertical alignments, grading and drainage, traffic analysis, and traffic signals.

The Engineer I position will report to the Division Director or Assistant Division Director and will perform design engineering and production efforts on a variety of transportation projects for State, County, and Local Agencies. An individual should possess basic familiarity of roadway transportation infrastructure including horizontal and vertical alignments, grading and drainage, traffic analysis, and traffic signals.
How you will make an impact:
- Assist project managers and design engineers on transportation designs, studies, and reports for projects including roadway/highway rehabilitation or reconstruction, intersection improvements, traffic signals, pedestrian and bike facilities. Such work may include coordination and assistance to other company divisions including Municipal, Water Resources, Data Collection, Survey, and Construction Divisions.
- Typical assignments include project data collection/scrubbing as well as project deliverable assembly utilizing CAD Software and Microsoft Office Products.
- Additionally, this role may be tasked with performing and documenting project designs, calculations, or quantity tabulations under close supervision.
- Attend project and/or client meetings, including public information meetings and public hearings.
- Assist with construction engineering on construction sites, as needed.
- Complete tasks assigned by project managers and project engineers to meet project schedules and provide proactive reporting on task status.
- Work under the supervision and mentoring of other firm staff in a hybrid-style team setting with other team members within all divisions of the company.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
- Prior internship experience in civil engineering is a plus, but not required.
- Working knowledge of Bentley CAD Software (ie. Microstation/OpenRoads Designer) and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D is preferred.
- Valid Driver's License and registered insured personal vehicle.
- Detail-oriented individual who takes pride in producing high-quality individual work products.
- Ability to focus to work independently with general supervision and collaboratively as part of a larger team to achieve project goals.
- Ability to demonstrate and communicate a thoughtful approach for completing assigned tasks.
- Self-starting individual with organizational skills capable of keeping track of multiple assigned tasks simultaneously.
- A solid work ethic with the desire to be curious to learn about firm business and the industry.
- Specific Focus Areas: Traffic Analysis, Phase I Projects, Phase II Projects, ADA Ramp Design, Pavement Marking & Signage Design, Maintenance of Traffic Design, Public Involvement, Geometric Design (including plan layout, profile design, detail grading)

- Work is performed in both an office environment and outdoors including sites with exposure to inclement weather or extreme weather conditions.
- Moderate physical demands, including sitting, standing, or walking for prolonged periods of time. Strength sufficiently to lift and move items weighing up to sixty (60) pounds.
- Vision should be sufficient to see and read plan specifications with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents and to operate survey equipment. Hearing sufficient to converse in the normal audio range with or without correction.
