Job Requirements / Description

Summary

Provide subject matter expertise for ongoing support of applications deployed to OCC’s non production AWS environments and supporting 3rd party applications. Identify root causes and automate solutions in support of development. Work under general supervision; typically reports to a project leader or manager. Manage day to day activities when called upon.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Provide subject matter expertise for ongoing support of third-party tools like Kafka, Artifactory, Terraform, Apigee.
  2. Support the lower environments for incident and problem management.
  3. Resolve complex support issues in non-production environments.
  4. Understand Cloud Native applications running on Kubernetes within AWS.
  5. Assist production support and development staff in debugging environment defects.
  6. Create procedural and troubleshooting documentation related to cloud native applications.
  7. Write complex automation scripts using common automation tools, such as Jenkins, Ansible, and Terraform.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  1. Excellent problem solving skills.
  2. Ability to work independently.
  3. Ability to multi-task and work with management to prioritize tasks.
  4. Demonstrate strong confidence in abilities and knowledge.
  5. Ability to work well in crisis situations.
  6. Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  7. Flexibility to be on call from 5 PM to 7 AM for 3 months per year.
  8. Good written and oral communication skills.

Technical Skills

  1. Expert understanding of:
  • Groovy or other Scripting and coding experience
  • Network technologies
  • CI/CD tools such as Artifactory, Jenkins, and GIT
  • Cloud native applications, including Terraform experience
  • Technologies used to support microservices
  • Experience with cloud-based systems such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, including expertise in infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation
  • Strong programming skills in Java or Python, and experience with containerization technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
  • Understanding of software development methodologies and Agile practices
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of issues
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams

Education and/or Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree in a related area
  2. 7-10 years of related experience
  • Minimum 7 years experience working in a distributed multi-platform environment.
  • Minimum 3 years experience working with Kafka.
  • Minimum 3 supporting enterprise monitoring technologies.

Certificates or Licenses

  1. Cloud Certification a plus
