Job Requirements / Description

The Transportation Engineer is responsible for delivering quality engineering and design documents that are constructable and meet project success criteria.

Key Responsibilities

Client Engagement:

  • Assist with client communication for specific projects.
  • Attend client and public meetings (day or night).

Internal Processes:

  • Use engineering software (AutoCAD, Civil3D, OpenRoads) to prepare plans and reports.
  • Monitor construction site progress and ensure project quality.
  • Assist in preparing/modifying reports, specifications, and designs.
  • Develop construction cost estimates.
  • Work under a licensed engineer with increasing independence.
  • Follow company policies and project quality control plans.

Financial Management:

  • Assist in preparing project deliverables within budget and schedule.
  • Communicate with Project Manager regarding project milestones and budgets.
  • Meet financial goals through efficient time management and quality work.

Learning and Growth:

  • Pursue professional development (skills, certifications, licensure).
  • Maintain CEUs and work towards obtaining PE licensure.

Qualifications

  • BS in Civil Engineering (2-5 years experience) or MS/MBA (1-year experience).
  • Preferred EI and Roadway Design experience.
  • Valid driver’s license.

Skills

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Civil3D, OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong verbal, written, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift 25 lbs. and work extended hours.

Work Environment

  • Office environment with moderate noise; occasional travel and outdoor site visits (noisy).
