HDR is looking for a Project Engineer to join our Water Business Group team in Charlotte, Raleigh, Wilmington, or Winston-Salem, NC with a technical background in water and wastewater pump stations and pipelines or water and wastewater treatment. The Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting projects through planning, design and construction phases. Project types could include water transmission pipelines, water pump stations, wastewater collection systems, wastewater pump stations, water treatment plants, wastewater treatments plants and related infrastructure projects. They will need to be skilled in planning studies, field alignment studies, coordinating with sub-consultants and utility owners, preparing preliminary and final design, drawing preparation coordination, developing technical specifications, and performing office and field services during construction. They will also be expected to direct production staff and perform client management activities to support our North Carolina based team.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
- Previous experience designing and creating plans and specifications for water and wastewater projects
- Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent field
- North Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) license
- Previous experience executing technical studies, analyses, and/or designing and creating plans and specifications for water focused projects
- Ability to make independent decisions and be accountable for the results
- Local candidates are preferred
