2025 Collegiate Hiring Initiative – Cloud Developer

This posting will close on 11:59pm EST on October 22, 2024 or once we have reached a limit of 200 applications received (whichever occurs first).

The FBI’s Collegiate Hiring Initiative (CHI) recruits recent undergraduate and graduate students for full-time, permanent positions, who are ready to take the next step toward discovering an insider’s perspective on FBI operations and a career truly unlike any other. Collegiate Hires make tremendous contributions to the FBI’s mission, from ensuring the smooth running of operational squads by performing key business and administrative functions, to working as a core part of investigative teams by analyzing and visualizing data, among many other opportunities. Whatever your role, you will play a key part in protecting the American people and upholding the Constitution of the United States.

Are you interested in beginning a career with the FBI and supporting investigative and intelligence operations at America’s premier national security and law enforcement agency?

The FBI’s Information Management Division (IMD) in Winchester, VA supports the FBI’s information collection, organization, and storage throughout its entire lifecycle in a secure environment. Effective management enables improved decision-making, increased productivity, streamlined accessibility, and compliance with legal requirements. IMD also supports several mission support systems which are responsible for processing millions of vetting requests and freedom of information inquiries.

Information Technology Specialists (ITS) within IMD:

  • Serve as subject matter experts addressing critical challenges which confront the FBI in the realm of information management.
  • Integrate and modernize diverse legacy platforms into cloud architecture to enhance application performance and reliability.
  • Use cloud native services and APIs to build applications and services optimized for cloud infrastructure, e.g., Infrastructure as Code.
  • Develop microservice architectures and containerized applications.
  • Work with DevOps teams to implement continuous integration/continuous deployment pipelines.

Key Requirements:

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must have graduated May 2023 to June 2025 (veterans May of 2019 to June 2025).
  • Must have a graduating GPA of no less than 2.95 on a 4.0 scale.
  • Must be able to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Some travel may be required.
  • Must not be a current, permanent FBI employee.
  • ALL applicants must verify completion of the basic education requirement by submitting a copy of college transcripts by the closing date of the vacancy announcement.

If you do NOT meet ALL of the key requirements, you are NOT eligible for FBI’s CHI.

Education:
All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Transcripts are required for the FBI’s Collegiate Hiring Initiative and must be submitted with your resume to be considered.

Degrees must be in one of the following fields: computer science, engineering, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management OR a degree that provided a minimum of 24 semester hours in one or more of the fields identified above and required the development or adaptation of applications, systems or networks.

GS-7: Applicant must have a bachelor’s degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of graduate level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership.

GS-9: Applicant must have a master’s or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively GS higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related.

Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
