Job Requirements / Description

This is a full-time advanced level position involving technical work with a highway materials testing application. This position maintains portions of the MAC (Materials Acceptance and Certification) system and performs advanced database functions. The position requires a highly motivated and organized employee to create customized entries while ensuring the system is consistent across materials and technical areas.

Strong computer skills and experience in Microsoft programs such as Visual Studio, SQL Server Management Studio, Access, and Excel are required. Prior experience working with relational database management system (RDBMS), along with proficiency in visual basic, Structured Query Language (SQL), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), and business Intelligence tools and concepts are preferred. This position will be working with the Materials Program Performance Section.


Specific duties for the Database Information Section include the following:

  1. Responsible for maintaining and creating reports and forms from the Department’s database system using visual basic and SQL programming.
  2. Responsible for performing data processing with appropriate software and preparing detailed engineering reports based on findings
  3. Assist the Database Information Team in data compilation and analysis.
  4. Maintain a working knowledge of the FDOT Earthwork specifications and issues and how they pertain to various work assignments.
  5. Assist with ensuring the test definitions, comparison definitions, evaluation checklists and inspection checklists are up to date with the MAC system while ensuring the system is consistent
  6. Troubleshoot issues with data, uploads, and application programming
  7. Manage FDOT Service Desk tickets pertaining to MAC
  8. Assess MAC access requests and ensure they are processed by the appropriate District Application Coordinator
  9. Assist with programming enhancements to MAC in compliance with the Office of Information Technology’s application development standards
  10. Demonstrate strong communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills
  11. Demonstrate experience in data entry and quality review
