Automation Engineer

Hybrid (Pipersville, PA)

About:

The IT Automation Engineer is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing automation scripts and job scheduling to ensure efficient and secure execution of backend processes. This role requires a high level of expertise in PowerShell scripting, familiarity with job scheduling software, and a strong understanding of IT systems.



Accountabilities and Job Activities:

  • Develop and Maintain Automation Scripts: Write and refine automation scripts primarily using PowerShell to automate backend processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Job Scheduling and Optimization: Effectively manage and optimize automated tasks and processes using job scheduling software, preferably JAMS.
  • System Maintenance: Regularly maintain and update automation scripts and scheduling systems for optimal performance and security.
  • Process Documentation: Meticulously document all automation scripts, job schedules, and relevant modifications.
  • Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting: Proactively identify, analyze, and resolve issues within automated processes or job scheduling systems.
  • Collaboration with IT Teams: Work closely with Database Administrators, Business Data Engineers, and other IT professionals to integrate and streamline data processing tasks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about the latest developments in automation, scripting, and job scheduling technologies.
  • Technical Support and Training: Provide support and guidance to team members on automation-related tasks and tools.
  • Performance Monitoring: Continuously monitor automated systems, identifying and addressing areas for improvement.




Qualifications:

  • 2-4 years of advanced experience in PowerShell scripting.
  • 2-4 years of experience with Ansible playbooks or similar technology
  • Proven experience with job scheduling software, preferably JAMS.
  • Demonstrated ability to document processes clearly and meticulously.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in database management and data import/export processes.
  • Knowledge of queuing technologies such as RabbitMQ or Amazon SQS preferred.
  • Familiarity with MS SQL, C#, AWS technologies, and Redis is a plus.
  • Experience with Atlassian products (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) preferred.
