A dynamic engineering firm is looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to join its Seattle team. The role involves performing technical investigations and analysis of electrical systems and equipment, with a focus on troubleshooting failures and identifying causes. The ideal candidate will apply their engineering expertise across a wide range of electrical equipment, such as power distribution systems, switchgear, lighting systems, and communication networks. You will be involved in both commercial and residential projects, as well as industrial facilities and municipal infrastructure.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conduct site visits to document existing electrical system conditions and assess damage caused by environmental factors (e.g., fires, storms, floods) or construction issues (e.g., design errors, installation mistakes, equipment failure). Investigations may include responses to large-scale disasters like floods and earthquakes.
  • Use engineering principles and building code knowledge to assess damage and recommend repair solutions.
  • Review project documentation, including design drawings, and provide technical input.
  • Work closely with clients, building officials, and contractors to resolve technical issues during construction. Prepare comprehensive technical reports.
  • Manage and prioritize multiple projects, ensuring deadlines and budgets are met.
  • Contribute to maintaining and building relationships with clients.
  • Be available for occasional travel on short notice when necessary.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), preferably in Washington. Additional state licenses or the ability to obtain them is a plus.
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in electrical engineering, with an emphasis on design or a related discipline.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., NEC, NFPA, ICC).
  • Strong technical understanding of electrical systems and construction practices.
  • Field experience is required, with familiarity in various construction types and electrical system installation being a plus.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in litigation support, such as expert testimony, depositions, or mediation, is a plus.
  • Business development experience and an existing client network are advantageous.
  • Candidates must be eligible to work in the U.S. and possess a valid driver’s license.
