About The Team
As a member of one of our payroll product teams, this person will be responsible for creating, enhancing, and supporting the payroll processing aspects of the suite of tools provided by Paylocity. Working collaboratively with Product Managers, Software Test Engineers, and Business Stakeholders, our Software Engineers are actively engaged in the entire software development life cycle within an agile environment. This includes technical design, hands-on coding, unit testing, stress testing, performance tuning, maintenance, test automation, deployment, and upgrades.
What You Will Do
- Drive the development of large-scale distributed backend systems from design to launch
- Work on managed code and stored procedures
- Be the technical owner for the team's capabilities and systems
- Deploy to on-premises and AWS
- Collaborate with stakeholders to influence and translate business requirements into technical direction and data-driven implementation plans
- Help develop a vision for everything you work on
- Provide guidance and mentoring for junior engineers
- Lead by example and hold yourself and others accountable
- 3 or more years of experience as a Software Engineer
- Fluency in C# .NET
- Experience developing event-driven systems using capabilities like RabbitMQ, Mass Transit, AWS SQS & SNS
- Hands-on experience designing and building resilient, scalable distributed backend systems for Enterprise scale
- Solid understanding of modern REST API standards and concepts
- Domain driven development experience
- Hands-on experience and desire to work with SQL Server queries and Stored Procedures
- Experience with various automated testing methodologies and continuous release concepts like CI/CD and feature flagging
- Familiarity with Observability and Monitoring tools like Datadog or Kibana
- Fluent written and verbal communication skills that enable collaboration with technical or business-centric peers
- Familiarity with agile software development methodologies
- Experience with product migration from data-center to cloud
- Prior experience working with modern payroll applications
- Maintaining existing stored procedures, while chipping away to add logic to the managed code
- Diving into existing code and figuring out how it works and how to improve it
- Raise the bar for reliability and performance
- Improve testing processes to guarantee smooth rollouts
- Improve and drive forward architectural processes
- Solid partnership with other payroll teams

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $84,487 - $182,372/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
