SUMMARY: Define, develop, and oversee the implementation of new manufacturing processes primarily for connectors and cable assemblies, or improvements to existing manufacturing processes, while maintaining high levels of manufacturing and product quality, cost-efficiency, and conformance with regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following: Other duties may be assigned.
- Work closely with design engineering on new products and special manufacturing process requirements.
- Review Supplier Statement of Work (SSOW) for compliance and implementation of new procedures/processes to meet SSOW requirements.
- Assist in developing cost/pricing strategy for SSOW compliance requirements related to design and manufacturing engineering.
- Evaluate existing processes and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist Quality Engineering with determining root cause in problem analysis and implementing solutions.
- Analyze process plans and determine lean-based layouts and workforce planning/utilization for maximum efficiency.
- Assist Quality Engineering with detailed process qualification procedures including PFMEAs, Quality Control Plans, First Article Inspection Requirements, and Capability Studies.
- Develop and implement cost savings and quality improvement projects.
- Utilize design software to develop simple tooling, jigs, and fixtures.
- Conduct detailed, on-site vendor assessments and audits.
- Provide Design for Manufacturability review and feedback to product engineering on new product designs.
- Determine accurate manufacturing costs for new process implementations or improvements and update manufacturing systems with accurate data.
- Identify and implement cost savings, calculating anticipated savings and return on investment.
- Utilize Lean and Six Sigma techniques in all aspects of qualification and problem solving.
- Interface with customers and organizational bodies as manufacturing engineering representative during customer visits and audits.
- Must be perceptive to direct and indirect impact of proposed solutions on quality, cost, and operator satisfaction and can easily express those values of proposed solutions to all levels in the organization.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES Requires the knowledge typically acquired through completion of a four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent; two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Skills required include technical writing, presentation skills, lean methodologies, Six Sigma, digital factory connectivity, and the ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.

WORK ENVIRONMENT The employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and travel is limited to less than 5%.
