Ensures that standards of quality, economics, safety, reliability, maintainability, timeliness and performance are met throughout all engineering activities.ResponsibilitiesProvide responsible engineer function in support of a limited range of design modification projects, equipment applications and failure research, engineering studies, and operations and maintenance activities & practicesPerform field visits to observe or support construction and maintenance activities and administer basic on-site technical support.Perform occasional emergency response, including outside of normal business hours.Coordinate work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of projects and/or O&M activitiesPerform research on applicable codes, standards and procedures and apply to work tasks appropriately.Perform inspections and evaluations to ensure engineering requirements and Authority specifications are satisfied.Metering GroupSupport the review and validation of operational and revenue meter systems data collection and reportingInterface within NYPA and external agencies to support settlement and reporting activities.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesBasic competency in the design, operation and maintenance of electrical systems specific to the electric utility, or commercial/industrial industry, along with their various systems and componentsCompetent in the use of Microsoft Office applications.Basic verbal and written communication skills.Ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple projects with guidance.Familiarity with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.Ability to perform basic engineering calculations, and adapt standard specifications, scopes of work, reports, and design packages to specific projects.Education, Experience and CertificationsBachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university.Minimum of two (2) years related work experience.Physical RequirementsApproximately 25% travel, primarily within NY StateWillingness to enter confined spaces and climb/scale power system apparatuses is required.Hiring Manager: James KirklandDepartment: Power SupplyGrade Level: 06XThe New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation.
