MAIN MISSION
Within Axens North America Inc., the Technology and New Business Group provides advanced technologies, engineering design, equipment and modular solutions design and technical services to its customers.
We are looking for a V.I.E. Process Engineer (he/she) for a 12 to 18 months duration in the Engineering Department located in Princeton, NJ. The V.I.E. is an international program for entry level professionals between the age of 18 and 28, who are European Union nationals. In addition, the candidate cannot come from the country hosting the mission.
Assigned to projects involving different technologies (refining, petrochemicals, biofuels and renewables) within the Engineering Department, you will be involved in executing projects for U.S. or worldwide Customers for a wide portfolio of technologies and processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ACCOUNTABILITIES
Develop simulations for a process to develop the PFD and Heat & Material Balances to meet the unit objectives. Develop distillation systems (feed quality, number of stages and operating conditions), perform unit heat integration and optimize recycle loops to minimize process CapEx/OpEx
Develop equipment datasheets with the process specifications for Detailed Engineering Contractor to develop equipment specifications. Perform hydraulic calculations, heat transfer equipment specification, distillation equipment sizing and rotating machines specifications.
Develop Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) with the required control loops, size lines and generate instrument datasheet to ensure safe and reliable operation of the process unit
Actively participate in technical project meetings with the customers (kick-off meetings, PFD reviews, PID reviews)
Assist in execution of conceptual studies, such as grassroots ethanol-to-jet, plastics recycling, fuels and chemicals debottlenecking and refinery reconfiguration studies.
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• You are an entry level graduate with Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemical Engineering background
• You have a 6 months to 2 years' experience in process design
• Driving license is mandatory
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Experience in process design engineering or any experience in the renewables, petrochemicals, biofuels and/or refining industry
• A high proficiency in English is a must for this position, Spanish and/or French is an asset
• Prior experience with simulation software, such as SIMSCI PRO-II, Aspen Plus or Hysys
• Ability to integrate in a different culture/team
• Excellent oral and written communication
