A Day in the Life

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Joining Process Development Team at Medtronic’s MECC location, you will be at the forefront of developing cutting-edge software solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of our joining processes. You will leverage your technical expertise to design, implement, and optimize software systems that support the manufacturing and assembly of our advanced medical devices. Your work will directly contribute to the quality and reliability of the products that improve patient lives worldwide.

Working cross-functionally with Operations, Research, and Technology teams, you will ensure that our software solutions meet the highest standards of performance and reliability. Together, we will drive continuous improvement and deliver exceptional results.

Responsibilities:

  1. Design, develop, test, debug, and implement operating systems components, software tools, and utilities.
  2. Ensure that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
  3. Generate systems software engineering policies, standards, and procedures.
  4. Work across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Process Development Experience: Demonstrated experience in process development, particularly in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  2. Teaching and Mentorship: Passion for teaching and mentoring junior engineers, with a proven track record of developing and delivering training programs or workshops.
  3. Welding Knowledge: Familiarity with welding processes, techniques, and equipment, and an understanding of how software solutions can enhance welding operations.
  4. Team Collaboration: Strong team player with excellent interpersonal skills, capable of working effectively in cross-functional teams.
  5. Problem-Solving Skills: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a creative approach to overcoming technical challenges.
  6. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing process enhancements.

Minimum Requirements:

Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A)) and a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree with a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
