Sr. Backend Software Engineer

Validity is looking for an experienced Backend Software Engineer to work on our data management team. As a member of the data management team, you will work closely with other engineers, product management, and other stakeholders to design, build, and maintain a world-class data management solution for Validity’s customers.

Team Dynamic

As a Senior Software Engineer at Validity, you will be working alongside other dedicated and passionate engineers and product managers; all focused on accomplishing big goals like optimizing existing systems and designing and implementing new ones. We are a small team that moves fast with a lot of opportunities to grow.

This role will primarily be a backend role responsible for designing and implementing solutions that leverage AWS services, including Lambda, alongside tools such as Recurly, Tray.io, CircleCI, and Jenkins. You will play a critical role in enhancing our architecture, improving our CI/CD pipelines, and automating workflows to drive efficiency across the organization. This role will be working directly with Product and our QA team to prioritize high-value enhancements and deliver code on a regular basis.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate strong technical aptitude and enthusiasm for problem solving.
• Write reusable, testable, and efficient code with a focus on scalability and resiliency.
• Create technical documentation and collaborate with the team to scope and prioritize features and the backlog.
• Work collaboratively with other engineers on the team to provide valuable feedback on PRs and help others learn.
• Design and implement serverless applications using AWS Lambda and other AWS services.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using CircleCI and Jenkins to ensure smooth deployments.

Required Experience, Skills, and Education

• 5+ years of software development experience, with a focus on cloud-based solutions.
• A passionate engineer who lives and breathes modern JAVA SpringBoot development and likes to stay up to date.
• 4+ years of work experience writing complex applications based on RESTful micro-services using an MVC framework (SpringBoot, etc.).
• Passionate about Design Systems and working with other team members to solve problems.
• Interest and ability to learn new languages and technologies as needed.
• Prior experience handling reliability, troubleshooting, and deployment/monitoring operations for the products that you have developed.
• A proven track record of self-motivation and determination to learn from and teach your colleagues.

Preferred Experience, Skills, and Education

• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Experience working with Salesforce APIs.
• Experience with CI/CD (Jenkins, or similar).
• Experience with deploying on the Cloud, preferably on AWS.
• Familiarity with Recurly, Tray.
