Project Engineer Overview:
We're seeking savvy candidates to join our team as strategic project managers. In this role, you'll take the reins of new and current products, from design to development. You will be responsible for product, tooling, process development, and the flawless launch of new products/processes to production.
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform project management duties utilizing Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) guidelines
- Product design and development
- Create and perform design of experiments (DOE)
- Create prototypes using 3D printing, rapid mold tooling and machining
- Generate product improvements and/or cost reductions
- Prepare cost calculations including feasibility reviews
- Develop and work with vendors to support project needs (tooling, gages, materials, testing, equipment)
- Lead design review process for new injection mold tooling
- Provide technical support to sales and global customers
- Build engineering relationships with colleagues at automotive OEMs
- Moderate travel to customer sites or other ASYST locations
- Bachelor's degree or equal experience in mechanical engineering
- 5-7 years experience in project/design engineering
- Plastics industry experience
- Ability to read and interpret product, tool, customer, and machine prints
- Proficient with Solidworks
- Knowledge of GD&T and the automotive approval process
- Skilled in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Experience with either over molding or insert molding and stampings
- Bilingual in Spanish
