Role Overview
Want to design award-winning multi-family/mixed-use projects? KTGY is looking for senior design team members to collaborate on the many exciting residential projects in the KTGY Chicago Studio. You will work with clients, KTGY staff/committees, and outside agencies.
As a senior designer, you will manage the project design and lead/collaborate with others to ensure high quality, on-time deliverables. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience over their career on past residential projects and have been responsible for generating project designs. You would continuously lead/work on several projects and be responsible for the creative/innovative standards of quality found at KTGY. You must show effective time management skills and full awareness of the impact you have on the project budget and timeline. Key Job Functions
- Collaborate with Studio managers on the development of project design solutions.
- Strong communication skills to elaborate concept designs and project opportunities.
- Lead project coordination efforts with clients and consultant team.
- Author design concepts and lead their development through schematic design, design development, and construction documentation.
- Manage several projects simultaneously while taking time to direct and mentor junior staff.
- Assist in technical aspects to ensure design integrity.
- Act as a point of contact for clients and outside agencies during the design phases of the project.
- Perform preliminary code analysis. Research new code and zoning regulations as necessary.
- Compile and submit projects to city planning departments.
- Attend public hearings and agency meetings if necessary.
- Review and participate in project billings.
- Consistently verify accuracy of own work and the work of others.
- Contribute to budget and scheduling review meetings.
Required Skills And Abilities
- Ability to utilize Revit during the early design phases of projects.
- Accurate and detail oriented.
- Ability to research and apply building codes and zoning ordinances to concept designs.
- Ability to work on multiple projects and maintain effective communication and quality control.
- Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule, and direct work of self and others.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency using the following software:
- Revit (required)
- AutoCAD
- SketchUp
- Adobe Suite
- MS Office
Required Experience And Education
- Minimum of 5 years industry experience.
- 4-year Architectural degree preferred and/or combination of required education and experience.
- Previous lead design experience of multi-family residential projects or demonstration of similar design experience.
