This position is located within the NiSource Northwest service territory with preference for Valparaiso, IN.Pipeline Integrity Engineer 1As part of the NiSource Transmission Integrity Team (TIMP), Engineer I provides technical expertise to solve problems, improve processes, and provides direction of work in a specific area of his or her expertise, with supervision and oversight. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and the ability to work with greater independence.Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvides technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertiseEnsures accomplishment of business goals and objectives through effective planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling and monitoring of work activitiesPrepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations and sketchesExercises critical thinking and problem solving skillsContinually improves job-related, technical and professional knowledge, skills and performanceDevelops positive working relationships to effectively coordinate work activities and resolve problems/issuesMaintains accurate records and filesSupports the company's goals and represents the company positively and professionallySeek and incorporate feedback from internal and external stakeholdersActively seeks creative solutions and enhanced efficienciesProvide support for commission audits and preparationQualifications0-2 years of experience utility experience or equivalentBachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college/university program.Demonstrated understanding of basic engineering/technical theories and principals.Demonstrated understanding of basic practices of researching technical design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendationsWritten and oral communication skillsOrganizational and planning skillsValid drivers licenseDesired QualificationsUnderstanding of/experience with basic principles of project managementDesired engineering disciplines include civil, mechanical, electrical, and industrialExperience in the utility industryEngineer in Training certificateWorking knowledge of industry codes, rules, regulations, standards, policies, and proceduresNACE Certifications-Level 1Pipeline Integrity Engineer 2As part of the NiSource Transmission Integrity Team (TIMP), Engineer II provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems, improve processes and provides direction of work in a specific area of his or her expertise, with some supervision. Provides project management for small projects. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently.Duties & ResponsibilitiesProvides advanced technical expertise and guidance in the identification, analysis and resolution of problems in area of expertise.
