We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Computer Vision and Generative AI Engineer to help work on exciting technologies for future Apple products and bring them to life. In this role, you will join a team of computer vision and machine learning engineers to discover and build solutions to previously unsolved challenges and push the state of the art for a global audience.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of business SMEs, engineers, data scientists, designers, and researchers, having deep expertise in both practical and theoretical aspects of 3D Computer Vision algorithms. This includes proficiency in generative models, 3D reconstruction, multi-modal models, pose estimation, or tracking. This role is exceptionally technical and will require you to actively engage in all aspects of the work, from conceptualization and theoretical considerations to design, coding, and implementation.

Description

In this role, you will focus on the following key areas:

1. You’ll be working in a team of computer vision and machine learning engineers to prototype and ship world-class algorithms that push the state of the art.
2. Turn prototypes into automation pipelines and deploy them to production; deciding when to use out-of-the-box solutions vs. building custom solutions.
3. Ongoing data analysis to build new or fine-tune existing models such as GPT to optimize results.
4. Partner closely with software engineers to implement these models in our production environment to enable product features for a worldwide audience.
5. Communicate results of analyses to business partners and executives.
6. Maintain expertise in the latest advancements in AI technology. Partner with your team members to prepare presentations, papers, and patents for your inventions.

Minimum Qualifications

1. 5+ years building NLP/AI software professionally and successfully releasing to customers.
2. 5+ years of industry experience in CVML and an advanced degree (Ph.D./M.Sc.) in CVML or similar field.
3. A strong track record of shipping products and publications/patents.
4. Strong experience in 3D Computer Vision algorithms.
5. Experience with state-of-the-art NLP algorithms and AI models, Multi-modal LLMs, Multi-modal contrastive learning, Foundation models, Diffusion based models.
6. Experience in machine learning, preferably in 3D computer vision applications.
7. Solid foundation in 3D geometry and linear algebra.
8. Strong understanding of Python, and related machine learning tools (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch, NLTK, spaCy, Keras).
9. Solid programming skills with C/C++ and Swift.
10. Experience with human factors, especially eye tracking and human input interaction.
11. Experience in 3D graphics and rendering.
12. Experience in modern Novel View Synthesis methods, such as NeRF, Gaussian Splatting, etc., is a plus.
13. Excellent presentation, written and verbal communication, engagement, and interpersonal skills along with validated skills in building great design.

Education & Experience
Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Computer Vision or related field; or M.S. in related field with 3+ years experience applying Computer Vision machine learning engineer to real business problems.

Pay & Benefits
• At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $207,800 and $312,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
