Summary of Key Duties for this position:

We're looking for early career engineers who are motivated and want that next step:

  1. You will be working engineering efforts using Agile methods, processes, and practices.
  2. You will provide support for factory integration, capability/feature development, and mission preparation and system definition.

Stormbreaker Operations team is seeking a highly motivated Systems Engineer to direct all phases of verification, testing and installation of software changes and hardware component changes to a large, complex information system.


Lead projects pertaining to software testing and transition, and ensure that schedules, activities, requirements and resources are properly coordinated.


The Test Director is expected to perform work under general direction. The selected candidate is also expected to meet technical results, quality and schedule objectives for assigned tasks as well as thoroughly understand and apply technical principles and concepts solving moderately complex problems with minimal assistance.


Other responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  1. Participation in test status meetings and review boards.
  2. Authoring Problem Reports.
  3. Test plan development.
  4. Coordination with end users.
  5. Enterprise verification and test procedure management (i.e. development, release and maintenance).

Other common Test Director activities include:

  1. Coordinate and conduct segment level and multi-segment testing.
  2. Define test requirements and system transition procedures.
  3. Conduct external segment interface verification.
  4. Develop, write and issue test documents.
  5. Coordinate and schedule system resources to support testing.
  6. Conduct test and operational demo planning.
  7. Chair or participate in Test Status Meetings.
  8. Support integration and plan of future deliveries and systems.
  9. Support system anomalies as required.
  10. Participate in engineering review boards.
  11. Coordinate and support off-hours testing for associated projects.

This is a level 2, early to mid career role where successful Applicants will:

  1. Typically possess a minimum of 2 years of professional experience having received a Bachelors Degree from an accredited college/university in a related discipline, or additional experience/combined education in lieu of degree.

Selected candidate must have a TS/SCI w/ poly security clearance prior to start.


Basic Qualifications:

  1. Experienced with evaluating/troubleshooting test failures using diagnostic methods and tools.
  2. Experience with testing methodology as well as software problem reporting and configuration management tools.
  3. TS/SCI w Poly clearance required prior to start.
  4. Willing to work primarily from customer location near Ft Belvoir.

Desired Skills:

  1. Experience with virtual computing environments using various platforms and technologies such as Linux, Windows, Java, C/C++/C#, Oracle, SQL, Perl or Shell Scripting, Jira, Confluence, ServiceNow.
  2. Prior Customer / Mission experience.
  3. Stormbreaker experience including knowledge of Stormbreaker mission software.
  4. Experience with Agile Software Processes in an O&M environment.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to work in a dynamic, team-based environment.
  6. Demonstrated individual initiative.

Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

Schedule for this Position: Standard Monday to Friday 40 hour work week.
