Actalent Engineering is seeking a Senior Utilities Designer to join a design firm in the Carlsbad area to support overhead to underground electric distribution utilities projects for the local major utilities. This is an opportunity to join a great team of individuals with continued team growth and career growth into leadership and client relations.
The role is remote designing from home with 8-12 hours per week in the field capturing distribution utility pole and wire attributes using cameras, field sheets, and utility-specific tools. The Senior Utilities Designer will drive their personal vehicle throughout the utility's footprint around San Diego service territory (residential and rural) to include San Diego county and southern Orange County. Monthly reimbursement for vehicle usage is allotted.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of utility experience planning and designing electric facilities and infrastructure.
- Extensive knowledge of overhead and underground fielding safety and techniques.
- Extensive experience with complex overhead and underground electric distribution design jobs such as 4-12kV cutovers, mobile home park conversions, electric vehicle charger installations, and/or overhead to underground conversions.
- Extensive experience working with survey grade base maps. Drafting experience is a plus.
- Extensive experience reviewing engineering deliverables.
