Job Requirements / Description

The Data Warehouse Developer participates in the design and development, and management of the Data Warehouse, including ETLs, data modeling, cube design, performance tuning, and deployment and management of cubes. Participate in new and ongoing project work.

What You Will Do:

  • Identify and participate in process improvement initiatives that improve the internal customer experience, enhance workflows, and/or improve the work environment.
  • Use best practices for Azure Data Warehouse design and development.
  • Develop scripts, perform database support activities, and conduct performance tuning and database design, dimensional analysis, and modeling.
  • Support the maintenance of an extensive set of Azure Data Factories for Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) data manipulation.
  • Support, with guidance, the areas of Data Governance, Master Data Management, Analytics, Data Warehousing, Scorecards, Dashboards, Business Performance Monitoring, and Data Mining.
  • Provide functional assistance in various data management, warehousing, business intelligence, and Big Data solutions.
  • Standardize cross-departmental data definitions, KPIs, and calculations.
  • Maintain, enhance, and create enterprise and application-level reports using SQL Server Report Service (SSRS) and other Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
  • Provide input to status reports for senior management.
  • Create custom SQL to query complex data models most effectively for the database and the application servers.
  • Participate as a team member with business stakeholders, developers, infrastructure teams, and project management groups.
  • Assist in monitoring system performance, reliability, availability, recoverability, and cost of the Azure DW environment.
  • Support other special projects and duties, as assigned.

What You Will Need:

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related IT field required and equivalent related work experience
  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 years of previous work-related experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Experience using Microsoft Azure Synapse Workspace, Data Factory, Azure Analysis Server, PowerBI, and Visual Basic required with the development of database/data warehouse/data mart solutions.
  • Solid understanding of the software development process, including requirement gathering, analysis/design, development tools/technologies, release/version control, and contemporary testing methodologies.
  • Good working knowledge of MDX and SQL queries performance tuning.
  • Good working knowledge in Data Mapping, Data Modeling, Data Mining, and Data Warehousing/Mart.
  • Basic understanding of Microsoft BI Stack, including Power Apps, Power Query, Power Pivot, and Power View.
  • Basic understanding of DevOps.
  • Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.

Reporting Relationships:

Reports directly to a manager level position or above.
