What You Will Do:
Project Engineer, Structures (Bridge) for Gannett Fleming, Inc. to work at our Chicago, IL loc. May telecommute up to 2 days/week.
Independently performs engineering calculations, technical studies, and prepares plans and specifications for a wide variety of assignments that may include: technical studies, structural design and analysis for highway/railway bridges and related structures, load ratings, and quantities. May function as a Team Leader for bridge design or inspection assignments. Provide direction for management of specific design tasks, including Level-1 reviews. Prepare reports and letters. Develop project design concepts and criteria, and review project documents for conformity and quality assurance. Functions as Design Team Leader on bridge design activities for routine structures. Functions as Inspection Team Leader on bridge inspection activities for routine structures or as Assistant Team Leader for complex structures. Works with clients and other disciplines to prepare designs per Scope of Work. Analyze moderate to complex design problems requiring development of new or improved techniques or procedures. Participate in constructability evaluations. Provides direction to and supervision for Engineer I, II, & III. Communicates with clients on task-oriented issues and on project issues under the direction of the Project Manager. Attend public and agency meetings and participate under the direct supervision of the Project Manager. Works across disciplines to develop overall design and plans for a project. Lead design of specific tasks related to bridge/structure design. Participate in development of proposals as part of the pursuit team. Develop scope, estimated schedule, and costs for proposed project services.
May undergo background checks including drug screen and motor vehicle check.
Little national travel to project sites may be involved.
Education | Experience:
Must have a Bachelor's in Civil or other related engineering field, and 8 years of relevant structural engineering experience, or a Master's in Civil or other related engineering field, and 5 years of relevant structural engineering experience.
Also requires the following skills (5 years experience) in: plan development using CADD; MS Office.
Any suitable combination of education, training, or experience is acceptable.
Also requires a Professional Engineer (PE) License (USA) or P.Eng. License (Canada).
