Job Description

The Sr Security Data Engineer designs and develops data architectures in on-premise, cloud and hybrid platforms. The Sr Security Data Engineer collaborates with Data and Security Engineers on analysis, architecture, design, and development of data warehouse and SIEM solutions. This role mentors team members in their efforts to build data engineering abilities. This position will primarily focus on the ingestion of security data into our centralized platform by helping to build a scalable and robust security data pipeline.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop data engineering solutions, including data pipelines, visualization and analytical tools.
  • Design and develop data architectures in on-premise, cloud and hybrid platforms.
  • Data wrangling of heterogeneous data, exploration and discovery in pursuit of new security insights.
  • Actively contribute to the team’s knowledge and drive new capabilities forward.
  • Mentor other team members in their efforts to build data engineering abilities.
  • Assist team management in defining projects, including helping estimate, plan and scope work.
  • Prepare and contribute to presentations required by management.

Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology or equivalent work experience.

Work Experience

  • 4-7 years of experience in info security technology or related field.
  • Expert in security subject areas.
  • 2-4 years of Technical Project Management.
  • Experience with high level design architecture, security technologies, Networking, web services and SOA. Understanding of encryption, obfuscation, tokenization technologies.

Highly Desired Skills and Experience

  • Experience working with MS Sentinel and other Azure services.
  • Building security data pipelines to support security operations (SIEM).
  • Building and maintaining databases and data warehouses.
  • Scripting knowledge.
  • Operationalizing data pipelines for large datasets (100TB+).
  • Building SIEM and other logging platforms.
  • Familiarity with data pipeline tools.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Data analysis.
  • Big data technologies.
  • Working in complex, fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly.
  • Security operations best practices.

Licenses and Certifications

  • Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) (Preferred).
  • MS Azure/Security Certifications - Cloud platform certification(s) i.e. AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner or Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) (Preferred).
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • Legally authorized to work in the United States.

Base Pay Range: $103,400 - $186,400

Corporate Bonus Target: 15%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate’s actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee’s eligible earnings in the prior year.
