System Engineer

Position Summary:

Big Impact Tech (BIT) is seeking a Systems Engineer to join the team. The successful candidate will support the development of systems engineering artifacts, interface documents, and system requirements under the Engineering Support Agile Release Train (ART). The Systems Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and delivery of a robust missile defense system, working closely with cross-functional product teams to implement customer-requested capabilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Develop use cases and systems engineering artifacts, including Epics and Features, for Cross-Functional Product Teams.
• Support the development and review of interface documents, system requirements, and Verification Cross Reference Matrix (VCRM).
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers in use case development.
• Collaborate with ART, product owners, and C2BMC management to ensure high-quality product delivery within available resources.
• Adhere to DOORS processes and procedures, reviewing technical products and acting as a technical liaison with Missile Defense Agency (MDA) counterparts.
• Participate in Agile development efforts, including iteration planning, tracking status, and providing leadership within the Agile team.

• Systems Engineering Expertise: Proven experience in applying systems engineering principles and developing technical solutions.
• Collaboration: Ability to work effectively in integrated teams with systems, software, and specialty engineers.
• Technical Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present technical approaches clearly.
• Agility: Flexibility to support various tasks on short notice, including Agile leadership and iteration planning.
• Attention to Detail: Ability to follow processes thoroughly and ensure the delivery of high-quality outputs.

Qualifications:

• Education/Experience:
• Active Top Secret Security Clearance required.
• Proven experience in systems engineering, including the development of artifacts like specifications, Interface Control Documents (ICDs), and system architecture descriptions.
• Experience working in integrated teams to develop engineering solutions.
• Ability to write and implement engineering plans within a project.
• Desired: Experience with Agile development, missile defense systems, systems analysis, and architecture development.

• Flexibility in scheduling with a 4x10 work week and three days off per week.
