( Please do not apply here, apply internally through Workday.If you are NOT a current employee or student, please click “Apply” and complete the application process for external applicants ( .JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:The Department of Architectural Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University is soliciting applications for a full-time, non-tenured position in building electrical systems. This position will be filled at the rank of Lecturer or Professor of Practice.The ideal candidate will be qualified to teach concepts involving electrical power distribution systems and related technology for buildings, including electrical design and coordination of low voltage systems for security, audio-visual dynamic signage, building management systems for electrical and mechanical equipment, on-site power generation and solar electric systems.Experience with smart grids and microgrids is considered desirable. The successful candidate will have knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) code. This position requires an emphasis on teaching and student advising with collateral departmental services.To be considered for the Lecturer rank, applicants should have: (1) at least a Master’s degree in architectural engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field by the date of the appointment, and (2) a minimum of five years of industry experience in an architectural engineering or a consulting firm.Candidates at any degree level with 20 years or more of related industry experience are also encouraged to apply under an option to be considered using the Professor of Practice non-tenure designation.In addition, c andidates who are currently licensed as a professional engineer are preferred for both ranks. Demonstrated teaching excellence through academic courses, professional seminars, or other closely related activities is considered a plus.The anticipated start date is January 2025.Applications should include a cover letter, full curriculum vitae, a statement of professional interests addressing the integration of teaching and practice, and contact information for three references.
