Job Description:

The Applications Development Manager is a part of the Issuer Services Technology global management team. This role leads an experienced engineering team to implement new or revised application systems in coordination with the Issuer Services Technology team.

The Issuer Services business has aggressive business growth goals for the next 3-5 years and has made considerable additional investments in Technology, including quadrupling the size of the technology organization during the past few years. This role is critical to ensure our project oversight and delivery of solutions to the Operations and the Front Office businesses are best in class and scalable to continue supporting growth within the business and our internal technology organization.

An ideal candidate has a passion for leadership with a strong capability in leading and directing our development teams. S/he is a senior hands-on technical lead with a proven track record leading engineering teams and managing projects with acute awareness and accountability for financial and risk-related objectives. S/he has strong technical and architectural skills and proactively contributes to the new technical vision and engineering best practices. As an Application Manager, you are crucial in overseeing the deployment and maintenance of various applications for Debt and Transaction Servicing within the Issuer Services Technology team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Hands-on with strong analytical and technical ability with 5+ years of experience, plus an additional 3-4 years involved with complex medium to large projects in a dynamic financial environment.
  • Lead day-to-day delivery work and clearly set out a strategic architectural vision while identifying project/program delivery risks and working on risk mitigation.
  • Good analytical skills to filter, prioritize and validate potentially complex material from multiple sources, employing skills and knowledge of the business to develop creative solutions to meet client and business needs.
  • Work on complex and variable issues with significant potential impact, weighing various alternatives and stabilizing potentially conflicting needs.
  • Consider budget implications and make appropriate strategic decisions to reduce Citi's risk exposure.

Experience and Skills:

  • Experience with Java, JavaScript/Angular.
  • Experience with Spring / ORM framework, and databases.
  • Experience with Agile and all aspects of the SDLC, and DevOps processes.
  • Self-starter who is passionate about learning new tools and technologies; ability to work both independently and collaboratively across teams.
  • Ability to work in a demanding and fast-paced environment; hard-working and highly motivated individual.
  • Superb communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to learn quickly.
  • Experience in working with multiple technologies and medium to complex systems, well-versed with design standards and frameworks.
  • Confirmed experience of crafting and delivering successful complex solutions in an enterprise production environment.
  • Drive the strategic recombination of platforms and applications to align with Digital First and future state objectives.
  • End-to-end staff and delivery management for several of the most critical application platforms utilized by NAM Agency & Trust.
  • Manage staff and vendors/contractors to accomplish established goals and conduct personnel duties for the team (e.g., performance evaluations, career guidance/mentoring, hiring, and disciplinary actions).
  • Provide strategic influence and exercise control over resources, budget management, and planning while monitoring delivery and end results.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience, preferably in a Computer Science or related field.
