This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI three times per week, at minimum.The RoleJoin an enthusiastic and ground breaking team at General Motors in our Software Defined Vehicle Automated Driving and Active Safety Design, Requirements, Integration, Validation Execution (SDV-ADAS DRIVE) Object Avoidance – Rear/Lateral team. Automated Driving and Active Safety is a rapidly developing area implementing multiple new features, subsystems and sensing systems to the vehicle. This is a great opportunity to join the team as a Performance Calibration Engineer responsible for development , integration, calibration and validation of ADAS Object Avoidance – Rear/Lateral features. This assignment allows flexible work where creativity, initiative and independent judgment are involved, and effective cross-organizational teamwork is crucial.The Object Avoidance – Rear/Lateral Performance Calibration Engineer will be responsible to deliver production calibrations maximizing feature performance. The position involves hands on vehicle testing, data analysis, simulation and performance optimization to deliver Object Avoidance – Rear/Lateral features that provide customers with assistance enhancing the vehicle ownership experience. You will be responsible for developing Integration solutions to meet vehicle requirements.What You'll DoDevelop optimal calibration values for assigned features, and ensure goals are met at key points in the development processLead the development and issue resolution for Object Avoidance - Rear/Lateral feature performanceBuild, maintain and execute calibration development plans for assigned featuresParticipate in feature, calibration, simulation and algorithm workgroups to establish/improve features and requirements to meet or exceed customer expectationsTravels as necessary for development trips and performance buy-off ridesBuild a collaborative environment working closely with other departments to ensure features are properly integrated into vehicleAdditional Job DescriptionYour Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science or a related engineering degreeMinimum of 5 years of engineering experienceExperience with data analysis and the associated toolsAbility to root cause complex problemsHigh level of communication and interpersonal skills to work independently and effectively with others, and ability to establish peer relationshipsPossess a valid driver’s license and ability to operate test vehiclesExperience with simulation, HIL, and mathematical modelingExperience with radar simulation and Python.What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)Experience with vehicle or component development, integration and diagnosticsUnderstanding of the use of vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition systemsExperience with radars, lidar, camera or similar sensor systemsSimulink & MATLAB tool/script development proficiencyThis job is not eligible for relocation benefits.
