Civil Transportation Engineer:
CLIENT is seeking a Civil Transportation Engineer for our downtown Chicago office.
This role requires a fully competent project engineer in conventional aspects of technical design and will work under the supervision of a senior civil engineer. Guidance and mentoring will be provided as required for unusual or complex assignments.
A qualified candidate will demonstrate responsible care and judgment while performing most tasks, assignments and designs independently.
Responsibilities:
• Perform civil design from preliminary to final design
• Develop plans, specifications, reports and estimates
• Ensure design compliance with state/local codes, ordinances and agency requirements
• Coordinate with reviewers to ensure accuracy and quality of work.
• Manage and maintain project documentation
• Planning & scheduling of assigned project work from the Project Manager
• Direct the work of support technical and drafting staff to complete project requirements
• Supervise junior technical staff and provide mentorship
• Independent critical thinking ability to make timely and well-informed decisions
• Assists in preparing project scoping and man-hours for proposals
• Represents client in communications with clients
• Other duties may be assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering (ABET accredited)
• 5-10 years of transportation design experience (roadway geometrics, cross sections, drainage design, traffic studies, signal design)
• Illinois based transportation experience with IDOT, Tollway & CDOT
• EIT/FE certification (PE License is a plus)
• Proficiency with MicroStation, Geopak and PowerGeopak
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Strong organizational skills and strict attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and deadlines
