About the Role:

Come be a founding member of Remitly's Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team! We work across Remitly's engineering organization driving programs that improve reliability and availability. Areas of focus include Observability, Incident Response, and Traffic Management (rate limiting, circuit breaking, etc). As a Senior Developer on the team, you will build and extend software focused on solving challenges in these domains, and roll out solutions that can be used by all services. Additionally, you will help set the vision for where this team goes next and mentor junior team members.

You Will:

  1. Evaluate and integrate/build systems in SRE domains such as observability, rate limiting, traffic splitting, incident management, and problem management.
  2. Implement a company-wide strategy for Observability, including the tooling necessary to make it a reality. Provide technical mentorship to other Remitly teams on how to best monitor their systems.
  3. Identify company-wide opportunities to improve availability, and implement automation and tooling to address.
  4. Automate routine tasks, either independently or working with other developers.
  5. Participate in an on-call rotation for production issues.
  6. Provide mentorship to junior team members.

You Have:

  1. 5+ years as a Software Development Engineer.
  2. 3+ years architecting and operating highly available services in a cloud provider such as AWS.
  3. Proficient in at least one high-level programming language such as Java, Go, or Python.
  4. 2+ years experience driving collaborative projects from conception to delivery using Agile/Kanban methodology.
  5. Experience implementing Observability tooling at scale (Prometheus, CloudWatch, New Relic, Dynatrace, etc).
  6. Deep understanding and passion for SRE concepts, patterns, and tooling.

Compensation Details: The starting base salary range for this position is typically $159,090 - $210,000. In the U.S., Remitly employees are shareholders in our Company and equity is part of our total compensation plan.
